one of your biggest budget eaters? the food!
now although i am ALL about saving betty brides some cold hard cash, i do have to admit this is most often one of your most warranted splurges. it is a party isn't it?
however, let's put a spin on things for a bit...hold on to your big girl pants.
close your eyes...oh wait, open them. you need to read this.
think of one of the best meals you eat all year. chances are a large majority thought of a family holiday meal (thanksgiving, Christmas, easter, etc...) most of these meals are the traditional "potluck." each member of the family brings their most prized dish as a contribution to the feasting festivities.
it's the best of the best! it's like the superbowl of eating!
now then tell me why weddings don't follow suit? i fully acknowledge that potluck does not mesh with all wedding settings, styles, or visions. however, if it is the backyard casual bash you are attempting to achieve...push the potluck!
worried about presentation? look how adorable and chic this potluck soiree from oncewed is:
a few tips:
1. have cute serving dishes available to transfer great aunt maude's casserole or double fudge cupcakes into
2. add some flowers and greenery to the table that tie into your color scheme
3. have your wedding coordinator make sure the process is easy to understand for everyone contributing a dish
4. tastefully let your guests know of the potluck in the invitation
stay tuned for part 2: potluck paranoia, conquering the invite
